North St. Louis County shooting leaves 1 dead, 5 others injured

Police said the deadly shooting had happened during a heavily attended fireworks gathering.

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. — A shooting Thursday night in north St. Louis County left one person dead and five others injured, according to St. Louis County police.

Police said officers with the North County Precinct responded at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday to a shooting in the 1200 block of Lakeview Avenue. There, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he later died.

Five other adults with gunshot wounds - two of them suffering life-threatening injuries - were taken to area hospitals for treatment, police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed the shooting had happened during a heavily attended fireworks gathering, police said.

As of Friday morning, police had not named the deceased victim.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
