St. Charles City shooting happened during a drug deal, police say

Two people are facing assault and robbery charges, the St. Charles Police Department said.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — Two people have been arrested in the shooting of two men in St. Charles Wednesday, the city's police department said.

Quindarian Wright and Brendon Sydnor are both facing assault, armed criminal action and accessory to robbery charges in connection to the shooting, court records show.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Moore Avenue and Transit Street at around 1:40 p.m., police said.

Syndor was found by police inside his residence with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to a local hospital before being interviewed by police.

Syndor reportedly told police that he received a text from an unknown number asking if he would be interested in buying marijuana from him and he accepted. A man then showed up at Syndor's house and allegedly pulled a gun on him. Syndor said he shot at the man in fear.

Police encountered Wright while they were investigating the scene after the shooting. Wright initially told police he was not involved in the incident, but officers took him into custody after video surveillance showed that Wright was involved, police said.

Wright told police he witnessed Syndor and the other person exchange gunfire and, during the shooting, pulled out a handgun he had and shot one round at the person fleeing the scene.

Both Syndor and Wright are prohibited from having guns. Syndor is on parole for a previous robbery charge and Wright is a convicted felon from Illinois.

Police originally reported they had also found a 29-year-old man from St. Louis shot in the legs, hands and shoulder in an alley near the scene. That man remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The St. Charles Police Department is asking anyone with information to call them at (636) 255-6125.
