St. Louis County man indicted for selling fentanyl to twin brothers who fatally overdosed in May

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis County man was arrested on an indictment Wednesday, accused of selling fentanyl that killed twin brothers who fatally overdosed in May. 

According to a press release from the Office of the United States Attorney Eastern District of Missouri, Jesse Charleston, 33, of Florissant, was indicted by a federal grand jury in on Nov. 15 on counts of distribution of fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl. He was arrested and pleaded not guilty Wednesday.

Charleston allegedly sold fentanyl on March 21 to a St. Louis buyer, according to the indictment. He also sold fentanyl on March 27 in St. Charles County and possessed it that same day in St. Louis.

In court Wednesday, the assistant U.S. attorney said the St. Louis buyer who bought fentanyl from Charleston brought it home, where he and his twin brother fatally overdosed.

The distribution of fentanyl resulting in death charge carries a penalty of at least 20 years in prison, with a maximum term of life. The fentanyl distribution and possession with intent to distribute charges each carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

The Drug Enforcement Agency, the St. Charles County Police and St. Charles County Regional Drug Task Force investigated the case.
