St. Louis County man charged with killing dad, leaving body in bathtub

Police said Kristian Long admitted to striking George Long several times, placing his body in the tub and dousing it with bleach and olive oil.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis County man was charged on Wednesday with killing his father last week and leaving his body in a bathtub.

Kristian Long was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the death of his father, George O. Long.

According to a probable cause statement filed by the St. Louis County Police Cooperative, police responded on Jan. 24 to perform a welfare check at a home on the 7000 block of Hunter Avenue. They found the body of George Long face up in his bathtub with multiple visible injuries.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Kristian Long admitted during a police interview that he had struck his father several times, placed his body in the tub and doused it with bleach and olive oil. Police said the incident happened sometime between Jan. 22 and Jan. 24.

Before and after photos of Kristian Long's hands showed minor injuries. Investigators also learned Kristian Long made an admission of knowing his father was in the tub before police discovered him, the probable cause statement said.

A medical examiner determined that George Long's death was caused by blunt force trauma to the chest and back.

According to online court records, officers were previously called to the home on Dec. 4 to take Kristian Long into custody for a mental evaluation. Once handcuffed, he had to be forcibly removed, and he thrust himself into an officer on the stairs, causing a cut to the officer's leg, police said.

He was charged with third-degree assault of a special victim and resisting arrest for the Dec. 4 incident.

Long was being held at the St. Louis County Jail on $250,000 bond.
