ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis County man has been sentenced to 14 years for two robberies he committed while wearing a GPS ankle bracelet.
Darrion Gardner, 22, was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Tuesday for two robberies he committed in 2020.
On Dec. 5, 2020, Gardner and a co-defendant, Malik Dorsey, were armed and robbed a T-Mobile store in Overland.
The two stole money from the cash registers, forced an employee to the ground and held another employee at gunpoint where they were guided to the storage area. There they stole phones from the store, Gardner admitted in his plea agreement.
Two days later on Dec. 7, the two robbed a second store, the Universal Accessories store in Breckenridge Hills. They took phones from the store and held an employee at gunpoint, according to the press release.
Gardner was arrested by police on Dec. 10, 2020.
According to the press release, Gardner attempted to get his father to destroy evidence of the robberies in his home.
He pleaded guilty in May to two felony counts of robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime.
Gardner still faces pending charges related to robberies before the cell phone store robberies. He was released on bond after being arrested and accused of the robbery or attempted robbery of people walking near Concordia Seminary, according to court records.
His co-defendant was shot by a clerk while allegedly robbing a cell phone store in Maplewood on Dec. 9. Charges are still pending against Dorsey, according to the press release.
