St. Louis County Thursday night crime: Fatal shooting; separate chase leads to crash

St. Louis County police from the North and South Precincts responded to crimes Thursday.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — St. Louis County police officers responded to a homicide by shooting and a reported carjacking that led to a chase and crash that left the driver with life-threatening injuries. The two incidents happened just over two hours apart.

Shortly before 5 p.m., officers from the South County Precinct responded to a call for an unresponsive male in the area of Regina Avenue and Horn Avenue. Officers found the man in his late teens suffering from gun injuries. He was eventually pronounced dead on the scene.

Just after 7 p.m., officers in the North County Precinct said they saw a black passenger vehicle that had been reported stolen in an earlier armed carjacking near New Florissant Road and I-270. Police said that an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off. Officers pursued the vehicle, which eventually crashed into a utility pole near I-270 and St. Charles Rock Road.

Police said the driver, a male in his late teens, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
