ST. LOUIS — A man and woman were arrested by St. Louis' top cop on Saturday.
Shortly after attending the funeral of Officer David Lee, Police Chief Robert Tracy and a sergeant with the St. Louis Police Department spotted a wanted vehicle involved in a robbery and carjacking investigation. Tracy and the sergeant detained a man and woman who were in the vehicle at the scene.
The man reportedly admitted to being involved in a carjacking and robbery that took place on Oct. 4, which is still under investigation, police claimed.
Officers responded to a robbery call at the Mobil gas station at 3710 N. Grand. A 26-year-old was inside his car at one of the gas pumps when a man with a gun got into the passenger seat and demanded the keys to the car. The 26-year-old gave the man the keys and was forced to stay inside the car for 30 minutes until another man ordered him out of the car. The unknown men began to drive the car away while the 26-year-old tried to hold on and was dragged across the lot.
“St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officers risk their lives to uphold the law and pursue criminals. I may have been at the right place at the right time but make no mistake—the brave men and women of SLMPD do this type of work every single day," Tracy said.
Police ask anyone with information related to the investigation to call the department at 314-444-2500. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous or is interested in a possible reward can call 866-371-TIPS (8477).
