Deadly shooting in downtown St. Louis ruled suicide

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the woman found shot to death in downtown St. Louis Wednesday morning died by suicide.

According to an incident report that has since been removed, officers found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds inside a car near the intersection of 9th and Market streets at about 7:45 Wednesday morning. The incident report said the woman was unconscious and not breathing when officers found her.

The incident report initially classified the incident as an assault, but police on the scene told 5 On Your Side they believed the incident was a suicide. 

After the medical examiner's office and homicide detectives arrived to investigate, the woman's death was ruled a suicide.
