St. Louis police seek 2 suspects in armed robbery, assault and possible car break-ins in The Grove

"I'm just glad nobody was hurt during all of that," said one neighbor.

ST. LOUIS — Neighbors say on most nights, a parking lot in the 4500 block of Manchester Avenue in The Grove is packed with cars.

That was the case early Monday when several people became victims of crimes.

Investigators said shortly after 1 a.m., a man said he left a nightclub and spotted two guys tampering with a car in the parking lot.

He said the strangers then robbed him at gunpoint.

A second man who was with the victim also told police said the same guys assaulted him.

A source tells 5 On Your Side he was "pistol whipped and the crimes happened after both victims left Prism" nightclub.

While investigating the robbery and assault, police said a third man approached officers and reported his car had been tampered with, rummaged through and a window shattered.

Police said no items were taken.

A neighbor tells 5 On Your Side three cars were actually broken into at the south city parking lot.

"Thanks for telling me, I had not heard about any of that," said Angel Sosa, who lives in The Grove.

"I just would remind people to always keep a look out. Always hide your valuables in your car and make sure you're protecting yourself. Thank goodness no one was seriously injured and hopefully soon we can put this behind us," Sosa said.

"A lot of people come to The Grove and obviously you to know to visit the food areas and clubs, so obviously that's not on their minds. It's definitely something to keep in mind," said another man who often visits The Grove.

There are many security cameras in the popular entertainment district including some from the Real Time Crime Center.

St. Louis police will be checking many images.

Meantime, they're asking those who know anything about the crimes to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
