ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis County teenager will learn his prison sentence in November after he admitted to robbing a man of his car keys and stealing his car in a parking garage in Midtown last year.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, Ahdaejay Britton of Bel-Ridge pleaded guilty to one count of carjacking and one count of possession and brandishing a firearm in the furtherance of a crime in connection with an armed robbery.

The press release from Sayler Fleming's office said the incident happened on May 8. The release said the man parked his Mazda 3 in a parking garage on the 3800 block of Lindell Boulevard. Britton admitted that he and a juvenile accomplice grabbed the man while he was on the stairwell of the garage and threw him to the ground.

Britton admitted to pointing a gun at the man and demanding the man hand over his keys, wallet and cell phone. He then met his accomplice near the car and the pair sped off.

Police later found the car near the 10000 block of New Halls Ferry Road with the juvenile in the driver's seat. Britton was in a nearby store and was later taken into custody, where he admitted to committing the robbery.

Police said they found a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol in the car.

Britton's sentencing was set for Nov. 14. The carjacking charge carries a minimum sentence of seven years in prison with a maximum of 15 years. The gun charge carries a minimum sentence of seven years, which would be served consecutively to all other charges, and carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
