ST. PETERS, Mo. — A man told police he shot at the burglars who broke into apartment early Tuesday morning in St. Peters.
Police were first alerted to the incident at the Turnberry Apartments at about 2:20 a.m. when several neighbors called 911 to report hearing gunshots. The victim himself also called to say he just shot at the people who broke into his apartment, St. Peters police said.
The man, a woman and child were inside the apartment when the suspects broke in. They were not injured. Police did not say whether anything was stolen from the home. Officers did discover evidence of a forced entry into the apartment.
The burglary suspects were already gone when officers arrived on the scene in the 100 block of Turnberry Place. Police said the only detail they know about the suspects at this time is that they drove off in a dark colored SUV or minivan.
The St. Peters Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident. No other details were released.
Anyone who has information on the burglary or the suspects in the case is urged to call the St. Peters Police Department at 636-278-2244 ext. 3540 or anonymously at 636-278-1000.
