BERKELEY, Mo. — A St. Louis man was charged Thursday with robbing and killing a man last month in St. Louis County.

On Thursday, prosecutors charged Danny Jackson, 35, with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.

The charges stem from a fatal shooting the night of March 25. A Berkeley police officer was on patrol when he found a man lying on the street in the 6500 block of Jonas Place. The man was rushed to a hospital where he later died.

The victim was identified as Dennis Mclin. He was 31 years old.

According to the probable cause statement, surveillance video showed Jackson and two other people rob and shoot Mclin. The video also captured Jackson drive away from the scene.

As part of their evidence, police said Jackson and Mclin’s cell phones pinged simultaneously at the same locations before and after the murder. When questioned by investigators, Jackson acknowledged the phone tracked by police is his and the car seen on surveillance video belongs to him, too.

Jackson is being held without bond.
