ST. LOUIS — A teenage boy was shot Wednesday afternoon in south St. Louis' Carondelet neighborhood.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded at 3:49 p.m. to the shooting on the 6100 block of Idaho Avenue. They found the boy, believed to be about 14 years old, with a gunshot wound to his thigh.
He was conscious and breathing when taken to an area hospital.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting.
This is the 22nd child to be shot in the city in 2024, according to 5 On Your Side data.
