Teen injured in crash while fleeing in stolen car, St. Louis County police say

Sgt. Tracy Panus said the driver of the car was a male in his late teens. He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A teenager was hospitalized after police said he crashed while fleeing police in north St. Louis County.

According to Sgt. Tracy Panus with the St. Louis County Police Department, the crashed happened a little after 7 p.m. in the area of Interstate 270 ant St. Charles Rock Road Thursday night.

Panus said officers spotted a black vehicle that had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking earlier in the day in the city of St. Louis. When officers tried to pull the car over, the driver sped off. Officers chased the vehicle, which eventually crashed into an utility pole.

Panus said the driver of the car was a male in his late teens. He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Panus said other injuries were reported.
