ST. LOUIS — A teenager was injured in a shooting Monday night in St. Louis' Lewis Place neighborhood.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers discovered a 16-year-old boy who had been shot in the arm just after 6:30 p.m. Monday on a sidewalk in the 4500 block of McMillan Avenue, located just blocks away from Ranken Technical College.
The 16-year-old boy was conscious and breathing when officers arrived, police said. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The teen told officers he was walking in an alley when he heard two gunshots and felt pain in his arm.
The incident marked the first child shooting victim of 2024 for the city of St. Louis.
No other details about the victim's condition or what led up to the shooting were available as of Tuesday morning.
