JENNINGS, Mo. — A 17-year-old was charged with first-degree murder after police said he was part of a group that killed another teenager in a north St. Louis County field earlier this year.

Corey Brinkley was certified as an adult and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, police said Thursday. He is being held on $1 million bond.

Two other boys arrested in connection with the case are currently in custody at the St. Louis County Family Court. They have not been officially charged.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, on Jan. 6, a patrol officer found the body of Jaimarcus McDaniel, 17, lying face down in the snow near Apricot and Emma avenues. He had been shot multiple times.

Detectives began to investigate the suspicious death and developed four suspects; a woman, two boys and Brinkley.

Police said the group picked up McDaniel from his home in Illinois and drove to Jennings. The three boys exited the vehicle, walked with McDaniel to an open field and killed him, court documents said.

Court documents said a witness statement put all four suspects at the scene and ballistic evidence found matched those recovered from each of the boys. License plate recognition cameras also found that the suspect vehicle traveled from Illinois to Missouri and back to Illinois in around 35 minutes, documents said.
