TROY, Missouri — Three people associated with the Troy Soccer League, including two organizers, were charged last week with stealing thousands of dollars from the organization over several years.
Lincoln County prosecutors charged Donna Gail Vickrey and Erica Jean Kellock with one felony count each of stealing $25,000 or more. Uriah Franklin Hayes, a concession stand contractor, was charged with one felony count of stealing $750 or more.
From 2018 to February 2023, Vickrey was the Troy Soccer League's president and Kellock was the treasurer. The pair were responsible for the nonprofit's funds, according to a probable cause statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Hayes, who was in a relationship with Kellock, was contracted by the league to provide concessions during the 2022 season.
Other board members with the Troy Soccer League began to question Vickrey and Kellock about the league's funds in the latter months of 2022, and the pair were both relieved of their duties in February 2023, the probable cause statement said.
Remaining board members reviewed the league's funds and became concerned about expenses listed on the account's financial statements. Two board members reached out to the Troy Police Department about their concerns. Troy police requested the highway patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control to lead the investigation.
The investigation revealed that between 2018 and 2022, Vickrey had a debit card for the league's financial account and Kellock had the league's checkbook. Purchases were made in person and online by Vickrey, and she also wrote checks with her signature. Purchases made from 2018 through 2022 by Vickrey exceeded $30,000, the patrol said.
Between 2019 and 2022, checks written for cash containing Kellock's signature, as well as checks presented electronically exceeded $14,000. Kellock took those funds for herself, according to charging documents.
Written checks attributed to Hayes throughout 2022 totaled $3,650. Hayes kept that money for himself as well, police said.
Bond for all three people was set at $1,000 with the condition that none of them has contact with Troy Soccer League staff.
