ST. LOUIS — It was a violent night in the City of St. Louis, with three different shootings in less than four hours Thursday.
The first shooting happened shortly before 2:15 a.m. in the 4700 block of Penrose Street in north St. Louis. A man was shot in the face.
The incident report said the man was riding in a Dodge Durango when he felt something hit his cheek. The driver of the car then lost control and crashed into multiple cars before coming to a stop. The victim then got out of the car and ran off.
A resident of the area told 5 On Your Side said there were dozens of shots fired and another car that that sped away from the scene.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said he was conscious and breathing when they found him. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed with stable vitals.
The second shooting occurred just 40 minutes later at about 2:55 a.m. in the Hyde Park neighborhood in the 1100 block of Angelica Street. A woman was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital with stable vital signs.
The third shooting in the city happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the 400 block of South 14th Street in the Downtown West neighborhood. A man had been shot in the leg. He was awake and breathing after the shooting. St. Louis police later said the shooting was an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Just outside the St. Louis border in Pine Lawn, a man was shot on Jennings Station Road and Stratford Avenue. The North County Police Cooperative said at the scene the man ran through the neighborhood before collapsing in a backyard and dying.
