ST. LOUIS — A suspected gang recruiter wanted on assault charges was arrested Tuesday after police learned he was filming a music video in St. Louis.
A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said police have been investigating Markel Davis, 23, for more than a month.
Davis, who was wanted on fugitive warrants for first-degree assault and armed criminal action, fled the area in September as police started searching for him.
Police said he returned to St. Louis a couple days ago, and detectives learned he was planning to film a music video Tuesday in the area of North 14th Street and Cass Avenue.
When detectives arrived in the area, they saw a Jeep with multiple "heavily armed" people, as well as Davis, who was moving in and out of the Jeep.
They tried to pull the Jeep over and a brief pursuit ensued, during which police deployed spike strips. A gun was also thrown from the Jeep.
During the pursuit, detectives learned Davis had gone into a home near where the Jeep was originally spotted. When the Jeep came to a stop, four people ran; all were caught and taken into custody, and three guns were recovered.
Detectives then went into the home near 14th and Cass and found Davis hiding in a bathtub, the police department said.
