Woman charged in December fatal wrong-way crash in Hazelwood

The woman was driving more than 30 miles over the speed limit when the crash happened, police said.

HAZELWOOD, Mo. — A woman was charged in connection with a wrong-way crash in Hazelwood in December.

Police say Endrina Bacho was driving a Dodge van eastbound on Dunn Road with her two children inside on December 20, 2023.

A witness said Bacho's vehicle left the eastbound lanes and entered the westbound lanes. Bacho's van struck a Jeep going the opposite direction. The Jeep's driver was hurt and a child passenger in the Jeep was killed. Bacho's children were also hurt in the crash.

Bacho's van was traveling 75 mph, according to the crash data recorder, the probable cause statement read. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 40 mph.

Bacho did not have a valid driver's license. She was in the country illegally from Venezuela, according to charging documents.

Bacho was charged with involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and operating a vehicle on the highway without a valid license.

Bacho was held on a $500,000 cash-only, no 10% bond.
