Woman charged with DWI in crash that left 1-year-old in critical condition

Eleeyah Binion, 20, was charged with DWI in connection with a crash that left a 1-year-old in critical condition in December.

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. — A woman was charged with driving while intoxicated two months after a crash that left a 1-year-old critically injured.

Eleeyah Binion, 20, was charged Tuesday with one count of DWI causing serious injury, exceeding the posted speed limit and failure to maintain a single lane in connection with the Dec. 17 crash.

Police responded to the 7100 block of Olive around 5:15 on the morning of Dec. 17 where a vehicle was found overturned.

Police said Binion was conscious and alert when emergency crews arrived. Fire crews had to cut the 1-year-old who was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The driver was also transported to a hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening.

Binion's bond was set at $50,000.
