Cahokia Heights woman arrested in connection with deadly nightclub shooting

A 39-year-old woman was shot and killed Monday outside of a nightclub in East St. Louis, according to Illinois State Police.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A Cahokia Heights woman was arrested and charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting at an East St. Louis nightclub.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), 39-year-old Danielle Williams of East St. Louis was shot and killed Monday outside of Another Level, located at 600 Martin Luther King Drive.

With assistance from East St. Louis police, ISP agents investigated and presented the homicide case to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office, and the first-degree murder charge was filed against 45-year-old Lakecia Cole on Tuesday.

As of Wednesday, Cole was in police custody.

No other details were available about what led up to the shooting.
