EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday morning in East St. Louis.
According to Illinois State Police, officers responded around 7:30 a.m. Friday to the 400 block of State Street to investigate a shooting.
Police said a woman was struck by gunfire after an altercation. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim Monday as Trenadi M. Batemen.
No further information was released regarding what led up to the altercation.
The investigation is ongoing.
