ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A Catholic grade school in St. Charles County closed for cleaning Thursday after nearly one-third of the student body was sick on Wednesday.
According to Kenneth G. Morr, the principal of Seton Regional Catholic School, the illness numbers started creeping up throughout the week, and reached a peak on Wednesday. School leaders decided to call off classes on Thursday so the school could undergo a deep clean.
Morr said there were 48 children out sick on Monday, and by Wednesday, than number had increased to 96. There are 334 children enrolled at the school.
Morr said they reopened on Friday but stressed to parents that they could keep their children home if they were still feeling sick. He said the school could go to virutal learning, but it had not done so as of Friday.
He said most of the children who missed class time were out due to Influenza A and/or strep.
