ST. LOUIS — U.S. News & World Report has released its annual ranking of the top public high schools in the nation for 2019.
St. Louis area schools dominated the list for Missouri and one school in the area earned the top spot in the state.
The ranking is based on six factors: college readiness, math and reading proficiency, math and reading performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.
The top 20 Missouri high schools:

- Smithville High School – Smithville
- Rockwood Summit Sr. High School – St. Louis County (Fenton)
- Eureka Sr. High School – Eureka
- Metro Academic and Classical High School – St. Louis (Central West End)
- Parkway West High School – St. Louis County (Ballwin)
- Lindbergh Sr. High School – St. Louis County (Lindbergh)
- Marquette Sr. High School – St. Louis County (Chesterfield)
- Affton High School – St. Louis County (Affton)
- Ft. Zumwalt West High School – O’Fallon
- Liberty High School – Lake St. Louis
- St. Louis Med/Bio Science High School – St. Louis (The Gate neighborhood)
- Central High School – St. Louis County (Chesterfield)
- Knob Noster High School – Knob Noster
- Clayton High School – St. Louis County (Clayton)
- Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School – St. Louis County (Maplewood)
- Parkway South High School – St. Louis County (Manchester)
- St. Charles West High School – St. Charles
- Lincoln College Prep. – Kansas City
- Webster Grove High School – St. Louis County (Webster Groves)
Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston, South Carolina was ranked as the top high school in the nation. The school has a 100 percent graduation rate and scores 100 for college readiness based on U.S. News data.
