Man says another driver shot at him for honking in the White Castle drive-thru in south St. Louis

"Obviously I would not risk a shooting over a couple of White Castle sliders as much as I enjoy them,” he said.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man said another driver shot at him because he honked his horn in the White Castle drive-thru.

It happened Thursday night after a stop at the White Castle on Gravois in south St. Louis. The victim asked not to be identified because the shooter has not yet been arrested.

"The whole thing is just ludicrous,” he said.

He said he tapped on his horn because the car in front of him was taking too long at the window.

"The conversation kept going on and on and on,” he said.

The other driver jumped out of his car and started yelling “a lot of profanity,” but then got back inside the car and pulled over, “as if it were waiting for a large order,” the victim said.

So the victim picked up his food and headed home, thinking the ordeal was done.

He was wrong.

"The vehicle flies by me and puts a bullet through my door,” he said.

Just a few blocks from White Castle, the other driver tracked him down and shot at him, he said.

The bullet went through his seat.

"I was stunned by it. I didn't immediately feel anything,” he said.

It wasn't until he got home that he noticed the bullet grazed his leg.

"You're gonna shoot somebody over honking at you?" he said.

He fears the next driver who honks at this man won't be so lucky, so he's hoping police make an arrest soon. He believes the security cameras in the White Castle parking lot will help.

"Obviously I would not risk a shooting over a couple of White Castle sliders as much as I enjoy them,” he said.

5 On Your Side asked police if they have any suspects. They told us the investigation is still ongoing.
