PrideFest 2020 rescheduled due to COVID-19 concerns

The event was set for late June but has been rescheduled for August 15 and 16

ST. LOUIS — PrideFest 2020 was rescheduled Monday due to COVID-19 concerns.

The event was scheduled for the weekend of June 27 and 28, but on Monday, Pride St. Louis announced it would be pushed back to August 15 and 16.

"We have been monitoring the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic and closely relying on information from city, state and federal officials and health professionals," a post on the Pride St. Louis Facebook page said Monday night. "Due to this information, we, the Board of Pride St. Louis, have decided that the most responsible way to honor our commitment to our LGBTQIA+ Community is to set a new date for St. Louis PrideFest 2020 to August 15-16, 2020."

The post said the event will still be held at Soldiers Memorial from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug 16.

Plenty of other events have been rescheduled or canceled due to crowd restrictions and social distancing efforts intended to curb the spread of COVID-19. Last month, St. Patrick's Day events around the area were scrapped as crowd restrictions were just beginning.
