ST. LOUIS — St. Louis area grocer Schnucks is advising customers who purchased organic carrots from their stores to check to see if they are part of the multi-state recall.
The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating a multistate E. coli outbreak linked to the carrots.
The FDA said there have been 39 reported illnesses, 15 hospitalizations and one death.
A Schnucks spokesperson said that the stores carried three of the recalled products. They are no longer on the shelves at the stores but anyone who purchased one of the affected products can return them for a refund or exchange.
Customers with questions may contact the Schnucks Customer Care team at 314-994-4400 or 1-800-264-4400.
