ST. LOUIS — A Walgreens store in south St. Louis is closing next month.
The store at 4140 South Broadway in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood will close Nov. 13.
Signs posted at the store said customer prescription records will be available at other Walgreens locations.
In a statement, a Walgreens spokesperson said "increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures are weighing on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing and supply needs."
The closure comes as multiple pharmacy chains in the U.S. have closed hundreds of locations in the past few years in a struggle to remain profitable.
The spokesperson said the company will "work in partnership with community stakeholders to minimize customer disruptions. We intend to redeploy the majority of our team members from those stores that we close.”
