ST. LOUIS — Jaylen Walker hasn't been able to go very far from the rehab hospital he's called home since he was shot in the back last March, but that doesn't mean he's not moving forward.
"I should be laying in this bed depressed but I'm up, trying to get better," he said, after inviting 5 On Your Side for an exclusive visit at the center.
He endures hours of rehab every day, and has to lift himself from his wheelchair every few minutes to avoid getting sores from sitting.
He can't run and play with his 1-year-old son like he used to so often.
But even still, Walker considers himself lucky, and has forgiven the man who shot him.
But despite his relentless optimism, Walker has nowhere to live once he finishes rehab.
