FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. — A Saturday night crash killed a man and seriously hurt three teens in Franklin County, a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The victim killed in the crash was a 76-year-old St. Clair, Missouri, man who was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 without passengers. The man died an hour after the 9 p.m. crash in an ambulance before it arrived at a hospital.
Also from St. Clair, the three victims who survived the crash with serious injuries were an 18-year-old woman and two girls, 15 and 17. The girls were passengers in a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by the 18-year-old.
The Jeep passengers were taken to Mercy Hospital Washington by an ambulance with Union Emergency Medical Services. The Jeep's driver was taken to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan by a St. Clair ambulance.
According to the MSHP report, both vehicles were traveling on the North Outer Road near Marcus Drive when the crash happened.
The 76-year-old man was driving west while the 18-year-old was driving east.
"[The man] was inattentive to the roadway around him," the MSHP crash report said. "[His car] crossed the center of the road."
After crossing the centerline, the Mazda and the Jeep collided. The crash sent the Mazda into a spin before it left the roadway. The Jeep slid across the center of the road and struck a guard rail.
