ST CHARLES, Mo. — A Wright City woman died Wednesday after a crash on westbound Interstate 70 involving a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles.
The crash happened just past the Blanchette Memorial Bridge over the Missouri River. A traffic camera showed a backup on I-70, multiple firetrucks and law enforcement SUVs on Wednesday.
According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Amy Shirley traveled off the roadway and struck a tractor-trailer that was parked on the left shoulder, then returned to the roadway and struck a Chevy Equinox.
Shirley was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
I-70 westbound was closed at 5th Street during the investigation and has since reopened.
