Driver killed after wrong-way crash in St. Charles County

The 37-year-old driver was killed when his vehicle crossed the roadway and drove the wrong direction in the southbound lanes.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A two-vehicle crash in south St. Charles County left a 37-year-old Dardenne Prairie man dead and another person injured Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at 11:24 a.m. on S. First Capitol Drive, just north of Pralle Lane.

According to the St. Charles Police Department, the 37-year-old driver was heading northbound on S. First Capitol Drive when his vehicle crossed the roadway and drove tin he wrong direction in the southbound lanes.

His vehicle struck a second car and then struck a third car head-on.

The driver was pronounced dead at an area hospital. 

The driver of the second vehicle did not need medical attention at the scene, and the driver of the third vehicle was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The police department's accident reconstruction unit is conducting an investigation.
