A list released by Niche ranked three St. Louis suburbs as some of the best places to live in America.
Out of more than 15,000 places, Richmond Heights, Clayton and Brentwood ranked in the top 10.
#4 Richmond Heights
#7 Clayton
#8 Brentwood
This list is based on factors like cost of living, public schools, safety, jobs and local amenities with data provided by the U.S. Census, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Department of Education.
Carolyn Mantia, who owns a Clarity Street Realty in Richmond Heights, isn’t surprised by the city's ranking.
“The real estate market in Richmond Heights is crazy hot,” she said. "Sometimes the for sales signs go up, and that's just about the same time it’s sold or the homes are selling on the same day they hit the market, often in a multiple-offer situation going way over asking price."
Housing is one of the main factors Niche analysts consider when they're figuring out the best places to live, along with the quality of public schools, cost of living and the higher education rate.
"Our schools and our housing, and then you add in businesses. The beauty is in our diversity,” Mantia said.
Crime was also a factor in these calculations, but it only accounted for 5 percent of a city’s ranking. That’s the same weight given to the weather.
