JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — Multiple people were taken into custody following a police pursuit in Jefferson County early Wednesday morning.
Just after 4 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of Old Antonia Road for a report of people going through cars and open garages.
Jefferson County deputies located the suspect car and a pursuit was initiated, according to a spokesperson with the sheriff’s office.
Deputies tried to use spike strips, but the car avoided them and almost hit a deputy. The deputy was able to avoid the car and wasn’t injured.
The car continued to travel onto Imperial Main Street and ended at Highway 61/67 where they ditched the car at a gas station.
Five people were taken into custody. At this point, the sheriff’s office doesn’t know if anything was stolen.
During the pursuit, Windsor Elementary School was placed on a modified lockdown where no one was able to enter or leave the building. The lockdown has been lifted.
