6 kids hospitalized in suspected drunk driving crash in St. Louis County

The 18-month-old and a 10-year-old were still in critical condition on Friday. The driver of the other car was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Six kids were taken to the hospital and two of them remain in critical condition after a car crash in St. Louis County on Thursday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a release that a 29-year-old woman was driving northbound on Hanley Road, south of Bel-Ridge, with six kids in her car when she went to turn onto Albin Avenue. The driver of a second car that was driving southbound crashed into her car.

Every child was transported to the hospital: two nine-year-olds, three 10-year-olds and an 18-month-old.

The 18-month-old and a 10-year-old were still in critical condition on Friday.

Neither driver was hurt. The driver of the second car, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, but no charges have been filed at this time.

The St. Louis County Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call county police at 636-529-8210.
