AFFTON, Mo. — No need to be alarmed. What residents in south St. Louis County described as a "loud, European-sounding siren" was going off for nearly an hour Tuesday morning.

According to the St. Louis County Office of Emergency Management, the siren began sounding at about 8:20 a.m. due to an "unknown technical issue."

There is no threat or emergency at this time.

A technician was en route to the siren, located at 7910 MacKenzie Road, at about 8:40 a.m. to investigate the issue.
