MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – Another lawsuit has been filed in relation to the fatal crash that killed four people and injured more than 10 others in Madison County late last year.
Hailey and Madisen Bertels, Tori Carroll and Vivian Vu, a sophomore at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, were killed when a semi-truck plowed into slowing traffic just north of Edwardsville on Interstate 55 on Nov. 21.
Phong Vu, who represents the family of Vivian Vu, said a civil lawsuit has been filed against the truck driver — Mohamed Jama — and two companies they believe played a role in the crash — trucking company Forward Air Solutions and Keller Construction. The lawsuit is seeking $50,000 under the wrongful death act.
The same parties were sued by Caroll's family earlier this year.
