'Bring it on' | St. Charles welcomes snow chances for 50th Annual Christmas Traditions

At the 50th Annual Christmas Traditions on Main Street, you won't find anybody worried about the possibility of snow. In fact, they welcome it.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — The City of St. Charles is getting into the holiday spirit. The 50th Annual Christmas Traditions kicked off on Saturday on historic Main Street.

At the Christmas festival, nobody is worried about the possibility of snow; in fact, they welcome it.

"We are so excited that it might snow. That's what makes Christmas so magical," said Managing Director Debbie Ladd.

Ladd said the snow draws in larger crowds.

"We have had days where there has been ice, and we still have people who are down here because it's a tradition," she said.

Somebody who's very ready for the snow is Jack Frost, the man of many titles.

"I'm Jack Frost, winternational celebrity. I am the world's undefeated freeze tag champion. I am the Picasso of Polar. I am the van Gogh of snow. I live for this. Main Street is my canvas, and it's going to be a winter wonderland," Jack Frost said.

Christmas Traditions hasn't had snowfall on opening weekend in several years. The festive bunch hopes to break that streak come Saturday.

"We're ready. Bring it on. It's been quite a while since we had some accumulation, so I think Tis' the season for a little snow," said Jack Frost.

When it snows on Main Street, those at Christmas Traditions say it's not something you'd want to miss.

"It is magical. You've never seen something so beautiful and just like out of a storybook," said Susie Snowflake.

"You're going to feel like you're in a Hallmark movie. This is the best Christmas town in the Midwest. It just excites you to be here in the snow, with the lights, trees, and bricks. It feels like home," Ladd said.

Main Street St. Charles will hold their Santa Parade on Saturday and Sunday at noon to celebrate the festival's kick-off weekend.

Christmas Traditions is every Friday to Sunday in December and ends on Christmas Eve.
