KIRKWOOD, Mo. – Backyard chicken rentals are growing in popularity across the country and right here in the St. Louis area.
Renting a chicken allows you to get fresh eggs daily from your own backyard, without the commitment of owning chickens.
The Easy Chicken is a new company started by a couple who wanted to unplug from their desk jobs and get connected to their food. For $150 per month you can rent egg-laying hens, a coop, and their support.
NewsChannel 5's Dana Dean spoke with Maria Jansen, one of the owners, to find out how popular chicken rentals are, and the benefits. She also spoke with Kris Trokey, who is trying chickens out in her own yard.
