According to meeting minutes, Alderman Mike Utt made a motion to place Schaeffler on paid leave until further notice and to retrieve city-issued property and access to the police department building.

The motion was seconded by Alderman David Siegel and passed with an 8-0 vote.

City officials have not commented on the reason for the closed meeting or why board members decided to place Schaeffler on leave.
