ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at Barnes Jewish Hospital Thursday evening.

The fire was originally reported shortly after 3:45 p.m. inside a room on the hospital's eighth floor. Responding crews found a fire inside the ceiling of a lab area and quickly put it out with multiple fire extinguishers, the department said.

Firefighters confirmed the fire wasn't the result of a lab mishap, but was something that caught fire inside of the ceiling. Crews are checking for fire extension and ventilation efforts are reportedly underway.

No injuries were reported at the scene, according to fire crews.
