BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Three Belleville firefighters were injured when their firetruck was involved in a crash Tuesday morning.
Belleville Deputy Fire Chief Curt Lougeay told 5 On Your Side the firetruck was on its way to a call, driving eastbound on Illinois Route 161 when it was struck by an SUV at North Belt West.
The collision caused the engine to roll onto its side, Lougeay said.
Three firefighters aboard the truck were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, the deputy chief said, and the driver of the SUV refused medical treatment at the scene.
