BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A man died Monday morning in a house fire in Belleville, Illinois, Belleville Fire Chief Stephanie Mills said.
Mills said the fire started at a home near the intersection of South 13th and West Lincoln streets sometime between 5 and 5:30 a.m. The second-alarm fire left one man dead.
Mills said others were inside the home when the fire started, but she did not know if anyone else was injured.
Video from the scene showed flames and smoke still coming from the home and the siding on a neighboring home melted from the heat of the fire.
