HAZELWOOD, Mo. — Since Thanksgiving is over, the holiday season is underway. The retail season also got underway on this Black Friday.
At Cabela’s in north St. Louis County, dozens of people lined up outside the Hazelwood store entrance before daylight, anticipating the opening at 5 a.m. Customers lined up for an opportunity to get one of 250 gift cards, ranging in value from $5 to $500.
A 5 On Your Side reporter saw “$500” printed on one gift card. That customer declined to be interviewed, and the gift cards were long gone by sunrise.
At Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops, kids can get a free 4x6-inch photo with Santa now through Christmas Eve! Santa can be found in his magical kingdom inside the store.
Some of the best deals Cabela’s advertises on their website include a trucker hat, flannels starting at 10 bucks, BOGO Bass Pro thermals, Johnny Morris signature reels, and a Moultrie Edge cell cam two-pack for just $100. That represents a savings of $80.
Store general manager Jennifer Anderson told 5 On Your Side the Hazelwood Cabela’s has 97 employees, and they work over three shifts on Black Friday. This marks the 17th Black Friday for Anderson and that Cabela’s location.
