Firefighters save cat from Black Jack apartment fire

The cat was safely evacuated from the apartment and given oxygen, the fire protection district said.

BLACK JACK, Mo. — The Black Jack Fire Protection District doesn't just come to the rescue when humans are in need. It also looks out for their furry friends.

Crews on Friday morning saved a cat who was home alone when a fire broke out at its a Black Jack apartment. The fire originated from the kitchen stove, the fire protection district said in a Facebook post.

Firefighters acted quickly and safely evacuated the pet from its home before giving it oxygen, according to the post.

The Black Jack Fire Protection District was assisted by the Spanish Lake Fire Protection District, Ferguson Fire Department, Florissant Valley Fire Protection District and Central County Emergency 911.
