HAZELWOOD, Mo. — When Police Officer Rodriguez with the Hazelwood Police Department was first to arrive on the scene of a house fire at 11:30 Friday morning, he could hear calls for help coming from a basement window.
The Hazelwood Police Department released body camera footage of the moment he rescued a woman and child from the fire on the 100 block of Becker Drive.
He kicked out the window and pulled the three-year-old girl to safety. He then pulled out the homeowner, who is the girl’s grandmother, with the help of a neighbor.
The Florissant Valley, Hazelwood, Ferguson, and Berkeley Fire Departments responded and put out the fire.
Officer Rodriguez and the two victims were given medical treatment on scene and no one went to the hospital.
