August 4 boil advisory

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A boil water advisory that affected the General Motors Wentzville Truck Assembly Plant was issued Sunday morning.

According to the water outage map for Wentzville, Missouri, a boil advisory was reported at about 6 a.m. Sunday.  The boil advisory was still listed as "active" Monday morning.

The city says a boil advisory is different from a boil order. The city's website says advisories are for drinking water concerns that have "not yet been confirmed" because of water main breakers or other low-water pressure events. Water testing may take up to two days.

Officials said to boil water for three minutes before using it. Use boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation or any other consumption, like diluting fruit juices. Let the water cool before use.

Dispose of ice cubes and do not use an automatic ice maker. Use one teaspoon of bleach per gallon of tap water to disinfect dishes or cleaning food preparation surfaces.
