Mayor's office: AT&T jobs relocation from St. Louis 'regrettable'

AT&T did not disclose the type of roles impacted nor where they would be relocated.

ST. LOUIS — AT&T’s decision to relocate hundreds of jobs from St. Louis to other U.S. cities is “regrettable,” Mayor Tishaura Jones’ office said Monday.

The Dallas-based telecommunications giant said Friday it is consolidating “some work functions” in St. Louis to other cities where it operates. It said “several hundred positions in St. Louis are part of this change.” AT&T did not provide a specific figure for how many jobs are leaving St. Louis.

“AT&T’s decision to move a portion of its local positions to other regions is, naturally, regrettable for our city and region, and especially for those current AT&T employees who may soon be looking for new employment,” said Jones' office in a statement.

Jones’ office didn’t respond to a question about whether it had prior communication with AT&T about its decision to move jobs out of St. Louis.
