ST. LOUIS — Bankrupt broadcaster Bally Sports said it plans to drop regional sports broadcasts, possibly in September 2024, as part of a wind down, according to reports, a move that would force two local pro franchises – the Cardinals and Blues – to find other television and streaming arrangements.
The disclosure comes as parent Diamond Sports Group revealed in bankruptcy filings that its St. Louis subsidiary, Bally Sports Midwest, which broadcasts and streams Cardinals and Blues games via television and its app, posted a net loss of $13.8 million for the nine months ended Sept. 30. In 2022, it reported a profit of $2.5 million, the filing said.
